2009-10-02 - Farmville apartment fire displaces at least 30 people

The American Red Cross is on the scene of a Farmville apartment complex early morning fire that displaced at least 31 people who lived in 21 damaged units. The complex, located at 1013 Poplar Grove near the Longwood University campus was also home to at least 5 Longwood students. The Red Cross is surveying the damages and researching the possibility of opening a shelter. In situations such as these, the American Red Cross can provide shelter, clothing, medications, food and other emergency needs.
